{"id":15508,"date":"2021-09-03T09:00:37","date_gmt":"2021-09-03T13:00:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev2.worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/worldscreen.com\/"},"modified":"2021-09-03T09:15:03","modified_gmt":"2021-09-03T13:15:03","slug":"left-bank-preps-louise-penny-series-adaptation-for-amazon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/left-bank-preps-louise-penny-series-adaptation-for-amazon\/","title":{"rendered":"Left Bank Preps Louise Penny Series Adaptation for Amazon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Left Bank Pictures has begun filming <em>Three Pines<\/em>, an adaptation of Canadian author Louise Penny\u2019s mystery series, exclusively for Amazon Prime Video.<\/p>\n<p>The series follows Penny\u2019s Chief Inspector Armand Gamache, played by Alfred Molina, as he investigates murders in the idyllic village of Three Pines. Emilia di Girolamo adapts the novels as the lead writer, with Catherine Tregenna penning two additional episodes.<\/p>\n<p>The eight, one-hour episodes of <em>Three Pines<\/em> will be filming in Montr\u00e9al and rural Qu\u00e9bec through December. While the series is produced by Left Bank Pictures (<em>The Crown<\/em>), the Canadian production company Muse Entertainment is providing additional production services. The series is part of Prime Video\u2019s continued investment in Canada. Since 2015, Amazon Studios has filmed 24 Amazon originals in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Andy Harries, Sharon Hughff and John Phillips serve as executive producers for Left Bank Pictures, along with Sam Donovan, di Girolamo and Molina. Donovan is also the lead director, working alongside Mohawk director Tracey Deer and Daniel Grou. Deer and Katsitsionni Melissa Fox serve as Indigenous consultants.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith <em>Three Pines<\/em>, we continue to grow our slate of local originals and overall investment in Canada,\u201d said Christina Wayne, head of Canadian originals at Amazon Studios. \u201cThe series will be our first locally produced scripted drama, and we are thrilled to work with Left Bank to bring these layered characters, unique setting and masterfully constructed mysteries that Louise created to Prime Video. Alfred Molina perfectly embodies the cerebral and compassionate nature of Gamache and leads a tremendous cast.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlfred Molina is one of my favorite actors, and it\u2019s thrilling to be working with him again,\u201d said Harries, CEO of Left Bank Pictures. \u201cHis warmth, talent and charisma are perfect to play Louise Penny\u2019s much-adored Inspector Gamache.
