{"id":15360,"date":"2021-08-06T10:18:47","date_gmt":"2021-08-06T14:18:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev2.worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/nent-group-wiip-enter-content-pact\/"},"modified":"2021-08-06T11:35:03","modified_gmt":"2021-08-06T15:35:03","slug":"nent-group-wiip-enter-content-pact","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/nent-group-wiip-enter-content-pact\/","title":{"rendered":"NENT Group &amp; wiip Enter Content Pact"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group) and the U.S.-based independent studio wiip have secured a deal to bring a raft of productions from wiip\u2019s slate to NENT Group\u2019s Viaplay streaming service.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur partnerships are among the streaming industry\u2019s most innovative, and this agreement with wiip shows once again that we partner with the best,&#8221; said\u00a0Filippa Wallestam, NENT Group\u2019s chief content officer. &#8220;We can now offer even more world-class Viaplay original storytelling to Viaplay viewers in multiple markets.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Per the agreement, the shows will join the Viaplay original pipeline in the Nordic and Baltic regions, Poland and the Netherlands. The first wiip title to join Viaplay will be <em>The Uninhabitable Earth<\/em>, a climate change anthology series inspired by David Wallace-Wells\u2019 book of the same name. It is set to premiere on the service in 2022.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Uninhabitable Earth<\/em> will comprise stand-alone stories covering a range of possible futures that could result from the rapid warming of our planet. The show is executive produced by Hyperobject Industries\u2019 Adam McKay (<em>Succession<\/em>, <em>The Big Short<\/em>) and Kevin Messick (<em>Succession<\/em>), wiip\u2019s Paul Lee (<em>Dickinson<\/em>) and Mark Roybal (<em>Mare of Easttown<\/em>), Animal Kingdom\u2019s David Kaplan (<em>It Follows<\/em>) and Andrea Roa (<em>It Comes at Night<\/em>). Wallace-Wells serves as a consulting producer.<\/p>\n<p>Wallestam said: &#8220;NENT Group\u2019s sustainability focus, which includes a commitment to become carbon net-zero no later than 2023, also makes wiip\u2019s <em>The Uninhabitable Earth<\/em> an ideal first project together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Matteo Perale, co-founder of wiip, commented: \u201cWe\u2019re thrilled that our shows will be enjoyed by audiences throughout the Nordic and Baltic regions, Poland and the Netherlands on Viaplay.
