As part of the deal, the series will also air on BBC First in Benelux and BBC Brit in Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Season two of <em>Miss Scarlet and The Duke<\/em> sees the return of Kate Phillips (<em>Peaky Blinders<\/em>, <em>The Crown<\/em>) as the fearless female detective Eliza Scarlet, as well as Stuart Martin (<em>Medici<\/em>, <em>Jamestown<\/em>) as her childhood friend and potential love interest, Inspector William \u201cThe Duke\u201d Wellington.<\/p>\n<p><em>Miss Scarlet and The Duke<\/em> follows the first-ever female detective in Victorian London, who was left penniless and determined to become a private detective to support herself after the death of her father. <em>Miss Scarlet and The Duke<\/em> is created by Rachael New, who writes the series alongside Ben Edwards. The lead director is Steve Hughes.<\/p>\n<p>Charlie Charalambous, UKTV\u2019s global acquisitions manager, said: \u201cWe\u2019re very excited to be working with Masterpiece and Element 8 Entertainment again on this fantastic series. Our slate of acquisitions for UKTV continues to grow and it\u2019s brilliant to see <em>Miss Scarlet and The Duke<\/em> picked up by our BBC channels in Benelux and Africa too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Emma Ayech, Alibi\u2019s channel director, added: \u201c<em>Miss Scarlet and The Duke<\/em> has built a massive following since it first aired on Alibi last year, so we are thrilled to have it back for another series.
