She is expected to bring a fortune in dowry and produce many heirs, only to discover that her husband is in love with an older woman, her dowry is unpaid and she\u2019s unable to conceive. With only her intelligence and determination, she manages to keep her marriage alive and masters the bloodsport that is the monarchy better than anyone else, ruling France for 50 years.<\/p>\n<p>Recounting the dark legend of Catherine de Medici, the series comes from writer and executive producer Justin Haythe (<i>Revolutionary Road<\/i>,<i> Red Sparrow<\/i>,<i> The Lone Ranger<\/i>).\u00a0<span lang=\"EN\">The series will be executive produced by Francis Lawrence (<i>The Hunger Games: Catching Fire<\/i>,<i> The Hunger Games: Mockingjay<\/i>,<i> The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2<\/i>) and Erwin Stoff (<i>The Matrix<\/i>,\u00a0<i>13 Hours, Edge of Tomorrow<\/i>). <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">Stacie Passon (<em>Transparent<\/em>, <em>Dickinson<\/em>, <em>Billions<\/em>) directs multiple episodes, including the premiere episode<\/span><span lang=\"EN\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">The eight-episode series is produced for Starz by Lionsgate Television and 3 Arts Entertainment.
