However, when one of the children disappears overboard during a sailing trip, suddenly nothing is what it seems and secrets come to light.<\/p>\n<p><em>Beneath the Surface<\/em> was filmed in Germany and Denmark and will premiere on ZDF in prime time from February 7. DR has pre-bought the series for Denmark.<\/p>\n<p><em>Beneath the Surface<\/em> is created, written and directed by Friedemann Fromm (<em>Weissensee<\/em>). Each episode follows the point of view of a different character that is trying to discover the truth about what really happened on one tragic night. The series stars Thure Lindhardt (<em>The Bridge<\/em>, <em>Last Kingdom<\/em>), Lene Marie Christensen (<em>Legacy<\/em>, <em>Small Town Criminals<\/em>), Jan Josef Liefers (<em>Tatort<\/em>, <em>Arthur\u2019s Law<\/em>), Jakob Cedergren (<em>The Sandhamn Murders<\/em>, <em>The Guilty<\/em>) and Katharina Sch\u00fcttler (<em>Generation War<\/em>, <em>Dogs of Berlin<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>Jan Bennemann, senior VP of acquisitions and co-productions, said: \u201c<em>Beneath the Surface<\/em> is a unique and original approach to a dramatic and personal story.
