{"id":14308,"date":"2021-01-12T09:58:08","date_gmt":"2021-01-12T14:58:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev2.worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/danny-boyle-working-sex-pistols-drama-fx\/"},"modified":"2021-01-12T09:58:08","modified_gmt":"2021-01-12T14:58:08","slug":"danny-boyle-working-on-sex-pistols-drama-for-fx","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/danny-boyle-working-on-sex-pistols-drama-for-fx\/","title":{"rendered":"Danny Boyle Working on Sex Pistols Drama for FX"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>FX has ordered <em>Pistol<\/em>, a six-episode limited series about the legendary Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones, with Academy Award winner Danny Boyle on board.<\/p>\n<p>Based on Jones\u2019 2018 memoir <em>Lonely Boy: Tales from a Sex Pistol<\/em>, the series moves from West London\u2019s council estates to Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren\u2019s notorious Kings Road SEX shop to the international controversy that came with the release of <em>Never Mind the Bollocks<\/em>.\u00a0Boyle will serve as executive producer and director. The series was created by Craig Pearce and written by Pearce and Frank Cottrell Boyce. Jones is also among the EPs.<\/p>\n<p>The series is produced by FX Productions and is set to begin production on March 7.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s great to be back in business with Danny Boyle, an exceptional artist responsible for so many great feature films and TV series,\u201d said Nick Grad, president of original programming at FX Entertainment. \u201cSteve Jones was at the center of the storm that shook the rock establishment and we\u2019re thrilled to have Danny and the rest of the creative team tell his story as a member of one of music\u2019s most notorious bands\u2014 the Sex Pistols.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cImagine breaking into the world of <em>The Crown<\/em> and <em>Downton Abbey<\/em> with your mates and screaming your songs and your fury at all they represent,\u201d said Boyle. \u201cThis is the moment that British society and culture changed forever. It is the detonation point for British street culture&#8230;where ordinary young people had the stage and vented their fury and their fashion\u2026and everyone had to watch &amp; listen\u2026and everyone feared them or followed them.
