{"id":14082,"date":"2020-11-16T09:00:27","date_gmt":"2020-11-16T14:00:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev2.worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/worldscreen.com\/"},"modified":"2020-11-16T09:15:03","modified_gmt":"2020-11-16T14:15:03","slug":"icelandic-drama-trapped-gets-sequel-on-netflix","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/icelandic-drama-trapped-gets-sequel-on-netflix\/","title":{"rendered":"Icelandic Drama Trapped Gets Sequel on Netflix"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The award-winning Icelandic series <em>Trapped<\/em> is set for a sequel season, titled <em>Entrapped<\/em>, which will launch on Netflix in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>From filmmaker Baltasar Korm\u00e1kur (<em>Katla<\/em>), <em>Entrapped<\/em> stars \u00d3lafur Darri \u00d3lafsson (<em>Trapped<\/em>), Ilmur Kristj\u00e1nsd\u00f3ttir (<em>Trapped<\/em>) and Thomas Bo Larsen (<em>Festen<\/em>, <em>Follow the Money<\/em>). The series picks up two years after the ending of the second season of <em>Trapped<\/em>, and, like the previous seasons, is a character-driven crime drama with its roots in the Nordic noir genre that takes place in Iceland.<\/p>\n<p>The series is produced by RVK Studios and co-produced by the Icelandic Broadcasting Service R\u00daV and ZDF from Germany.<\/p>\n<p>Korm\u00e1kur, executive producer and creative director, said: &#8220;It is a great honor that Netflix wanted to take on the next chapter in the <em>Trapped<\/em> saga. <em>Trapped<\/em> is the most successful TV series in Iceland&#8217;s history and I am in no doubt that relaunching it as <em>Entrapped<\/em> with Netflix around the world will take it even further. The show will keep on tackling crimes in Iceland through its unique setting, bringing stories of our beloved main characters and their search for justice in a country deeply rooted in its traditions.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Lina Bron\u00e9us, director of co-productions and acquisitions for Netflix Northern Europe, added: &#8220;<em>Trapped<\/em> has gripped viewers across the globe and has shown that great stories can come from anywhere.
