{"id":13597,"date":"2020-08-14T10:08:20","date_gmt":"2020-08-14T14:08:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev2.worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/itv-orders-mcdonald-dodds\/"},"modified":"2020-08-14T10:08:20","modified_gmt":"2020-08-14T14:08:20","slug":"itv-orders-more-mcdonald-dodds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/itv-orders-more-mcdonald-dodds\/","title":{"rendered":"ITV Orders More McDonald &amp; Dodds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ITV has commissioned a second season of the detective drama <em>McDonald &amp; Dodds<\/em>, starring Tala Gouveia and Jason Watkins.<\/p>\n<p>Set in Bath,\u00a0<em>McDonald &amp; Dodds<\/em> pairs feisty DCI McDonald (Gouveia), who has recently transferred from London\u2019s Met Police, with the modest and unassuming DS Dodds (Watkins), who has been happy in the background for most of his working life. Thrown together with seemingly nothing in common, they forge a highly effective crime-solving partnership.<\/p>\n<p><em>McDonald &amp; Dodds<\/em>, created and executive produced by lead writer Robert Murphy, will once again be filmed in the West Country. The new episodes will be directed by Alex Pillai (<em>Chilling Adventures of Sabrina<\/em>, <em>Riverdale<\/em>), Rebecca Rycroft <em>(Malory Towers<\/em>, <em>Danny and Mick<\/em>) and Ian Aryeh (<em>In The Long Run<\/em>, <em>Andy and the Band<\/em>). The first season of the series, produced by ITV Studios company Mammoth Screen, is available to view via the Britbox streaming platform.<\/p>\n<p>ITV\u2019s Drama Commissioner Huw Kennair Jones said: \u201cWe\u2019re delighted with the audience reaction to the first series of <em>McDonald &amp; Dodds<\/em>. The two characters couldn\u2019t be further apart, which is what makes the series so intriguing to watch. They shouldn\u2019t have chemistry, but they do, and they work brilliantly in partnership, which is testimony to Robert\u2019s script and Tala and Jason for bringing McDonald and Dodds to life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Preethi Mavahalli, Mammoth Screen\u2019s director of drama, added: \u201cWe are thrilled that Robert Murphy\u2019s clever storytelling was a hit with audiences earlier this year. <em>McDonald &amp; Dodds<\/em> are a quirkily unique investigative team brought to life beautifully by Tala Gouveia and Jason Watkins.
