Fugitive, the new content development company established by Anthony Kimble and Merrily Ross, has secured a deal with South African producer Helena Spring.<\/p>\n
Helena Spring has produced a number of South Africa’s biggest feature films, including Yesterday<\/em>. Kimble will work with Helena Spring Films on the development of its scripted slate for TV and represent the titles on the international market for commissions and financing.<\/p>\n The slate includes an eight-part cyber thriller,\u00a0Neon Gold<\/em>, which mixes a heist adventure tale with a coming-of-age story; Common Purpose<\/em>,\u00a0<\/em>set in 1984 Apartheid South Africa and based on the true story of The Sharpeville Six; and\u00a0The Year of Facing Fire<\/em>, based on Helena Kriel\u2019s award-winning memoir of the same name. The company has also acquired the rights to Bitter Eden<\/em>, Tatamkhulu Afrika\u2019s novel based on his World War II experiences.<\/p>\n Kimble noted, \u201cHaving lived in South Africa, I\u2019ve long been aware of Helena\u2019s incredible body of work and I am beyond excited to be working with her on these new projects. Much of Helena\u2019s slate covers topical issues of race, gender and sexuality\u2014but with new settings and different types of characters.
