{"id":12325,"date":"2019-11-20T09:48:28","date_gmt":"2019-11-20T14:48:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev2.worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/netflix-orders-new-chapter-vikings-saga\/"},"modified":"2019-11-20T12:02:33","modified_gmt":"2019-11-20T17:02:33","slug":"netflix-orders-new-chapter-in-vikings-saga","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/netflix-orders-new-chapter-in-vikings-saga\/","title":{"rendered":"Netflix Orders New Chapter in Vikings Saga"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Creator Michael Hirst is continuing the storytelling of his epic <em>Vikings<\/em> saga with the new Netflix original <em>Vikings: Valhalla<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The new saga begins 100 years after the original series concludes and dramatizes the adventures of the most famous Vikings who ever lived: Leif Erikson, Freydis, Harald Harada and the Norman King William the Conqueror (also a Viking descendant).<\/p>\n<p>Hirst (<em>Vikings<\/em>, <em>The Tudors<\/em>), Jeb Stuart (<em>The Fugitive<\/em>, <em>Die Hard<\/em>, <em>The Liberator<\/em>) and Morgan O&#8217;Sullivan (<em>Vikings<\/em>, <em>Penny Dreadful<\/em>) are executive producers. Stuart will also write. MGM Television is working on the project.<\/p>\n<p>Hirst said: &#8220;I am beyond excited that we are announcing the continuation of our <em>Vikings<\/em> saga. I know that the millions of our fans across the globe will be thrilled by the belief being shown in our show by MGM and Netflix. Jeb Stuart, a truly wonderful writer, will bring new storylines and a powerful visceral vision to stories about some of the most famous Vikings known to history.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Steve Stark, MGM&#8217;s president of television production and development, said: &#8220;We are thrilled to be partnering with Michael, Morgan, Jeb and Netflix on the next chapter in the incredible <em>Vikings<\/em> universe. <em>Valhalla<\/em> has been a labor of love for everyone involved and as we look ahead to the continuation of this great saga, we are excited to know that fans the world over will have the opportunity to continue with the series on its new home at Netflix.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Channing Dungey, VP of original series at Netflix, added: &#8220;<em>Vikings: Valhalla<\/em> promises to be everything that fans love about the franchise: heart-pounding, unstoppable action rooted in rich characters and dramatic storytelling that shines the light on family, loyalty and power.
