The series centers on Detective Miranda Blake (Elen Rhys), an introvert who is used to living by the rules, and her German counterpart Max Winter (Julian Looman), whose approach to policing is based on gut-instinct.<\/p>\n<p>The series has presold to New Zealand (TVNZ), the Czech Republic (Prima), Japan (AXN Mystery), Finland (YLE), Denmark (TV2), Norway (TV2) and Sweden (SVT). North America, Germany and France already have access to<em> The Mallorca Files<\/em> through co-production partnerships via BritBox, ZDFneo and France T\u00e9l\u00e9visions, respectively. BBC First channels across Benelux, Africa and Poland will also be premiering the series.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Mallorca Files<\/em> is created by Dan Sefton, the writer behind hits such as <em>The Good Karma Hospital<\/em>, <em>Trust Me<\/em>, <em>Delicious<\/em> and <em>Porters<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Paul Dempsey, president of global distribution for BBC Studios, commented: \u201cSun, sea and subterfuge, great chemistry and escapist locations all add up to make our newest crime series a sure fire hit with international audiences. This is a great new addition to our hugely popular stable of crime drama which has something for all tastes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ben Donald, founder of Cosmopolitan Pictures, said: \u201cWhen we first set out to create <em>The Mallorca Files<\/em>, we wanted to deliver a high-quality, feel-good crime series that would provide a welcome antidote to those darker expressions of the genre which have been a staple of prime-time TV for the last few years. Sales secured in these major international markets suggests buyers feel the same way. This is a testament to BBC Studios\u2019 faith in our first show and to the hard work and dedication of <em>The Mallorca Files<\/em>\u2019 cast and crew.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Murray Ferguson, chief executive and director at Clerkenwell Films, added: \u201cSet on the stunning island of Mallorca with a host of brilliant stories and two fantastic leads, I\u2019m not surprised that buyers have been queuing up to add <em>The Mallorca Files<\/em> to their schedules.
