It took place in Odesa from July 18 to 19, where six drama series projects from Eastern Europe with international potential were selected to participate. The pitching competition jury featured Adrienne\u00a0Frejacques\u00a0(ARTE, France),\u00a0Mirela Nastase\u00a0(ZDF Enterprises, Germany),\u00a0Francesco\u00a0Capurro\u00a0(Series Mania Forum, France),\u00a0Dariusz Jablonski (ScripTeast\/Independent Film Foundation, Poland) and\u00a0Vlad Ryashin (Star Media, Ukraine).<\/p>\n<p><em>The Gift<\/em> was up against <em>Carpathia<\/em> from Ukraine\u2019s Marysia N\u0456k\u0456tiuk, Maryna Stepanska and Nariman Aliev; <em>Dead and Married<\/em> from Hungary\u2019s Kristina Jilly; <em>Disstaf<\/em> from Croatia\u2019s Nenad Antonovic;\u00a0<em>Salvia<\/em> from\u00a0Romania\u2019s Stefan Peca; and <em>Happy Nation<\/em> from Dmytro Hrypun, which won The Star Media Award, a post-production service package worth $20,000.<\/p>\n<p>The jury wrote of <em>The Gift<\/em>: &#8220;We believe in the high potential of this project. It&#8217;s a character-driven story with a strong female lead upon transgenerational trauma that goes beyond the border of Poland and can reach an international audience.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It added of <em>Happy Nation<\/em>: \u201cOne of the projects took us to a coming-of-age journey from childhood friendship to organized crime in post-Soviet Kyiv in the \u201990s.
