Rahim will star as Charles Sobhraj, a serial killer wanted in connection with the murders of up to 20 young Western travelers across India, Thailand and Nepal through 1975 and 1976.<\/p>\n<p>Commissioned by BBC One, <em>The Serpent<\/em> will be produced by Mammoth Screen (<em>Poldark<\/em>, <em>World on Fire<\/em>). The eight-part limited series is written by Richard Warlow (<em>Ripper Street<\/em>) and Toby Finlay (<em>Ripper Street<\/em>) and directed by Tom Shankland (<em>Les Miserables<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>Rahim said: \u201cI am thrilled to play Charles Sobhraj in <em>The Serpent<\/em>, a role I have dreamed of portraying since I read a book about him when I was seventeen years old.
