Sky and HBO have commissioned a new six-part limited drama series, The Third Day<\/em>, starring Jude Law.<\/p>\n

The Third Day<\/em> marks the first original drama to be produced by Sky\u2019s new production house, Sky Studios, in partnership with Plan B Entertainment, the immersive theater company Punchdrunk International and writer Dennis Kelly (Utopia<\/em>, Pulling<\/em>). Law will star as Sam, who after being drawn to a mysterious island off the British coast, is thrown into the unusual world of its secretive inhabitants.<\/p>\n

The 6×1-hour limited series will be directed by BAFTA Award winner Marc Munden (National Treasure<\/em>, Utopia<\/em>) and will be produced by Adrian Sturges (Chimerica<\/em>, The Enfield Haunting<\/em>). Kit de Waal and Dean O\u2019Loughlin are also writers for the series.<\/p>\n

Production will start on The Third Day<\/em> in the U.K. in July, and the limited series will air in the U.K. and Ireland next year on Sky Atlantic and the streaming service NOW TV and in the U.S. on HBO.<\/p>\n

Cameron Roach, director of drama and Sky Studios for Sky U.K. and Ireland, said: \u201cSky Studios is delighted to be partnering with Plan B, Punchdrunk International and HBO on this exciting series. The Third Day<\/em> is the result of the intoxicating combined imaginations of Dennis Kelly and Punchdrunk International\u2019s Felix Barrett and has resulted in astonishing scripts. To see them brought to life under the direction of Marc Munden and with Jude Law at the helm of what promises to be a world-class cast is an incredibly exciting prospect.\u201d<\/p>\n

Casey Bloys, president of HBO Programming, said: \u201cDennis and Felix have created something fresh and unique and we are thrilled to have this on HBO. We look forward to collaborating with Punchdrunk International, Marc and Jude as well as furthering our relationship with Sky and Plan B Entertainment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Co-creator Felix Barrett, artistic director at Punchdrunk International, said: \u201cAt Punchdrunk International we have long harbored a desire to take our approach into television. We are thrilled to be working alongside Plan B Entertainment, Sky Studios and HBO to bring The Third Day<\/em> to audiences on both sides of the Atlantic in 2020.\u201d<\/p>\n
