Heathcote, who will also serve as an executive producer, will be taking over writing duties from season two\u2019s Emerald Fennell (<em>Promising Young Women<\/em>). Waller-Bridge, who will stay on board as an executive producer for season three, penned the first season of the award-winning series that stars Sandra Oh, Jodie Comer and Fiona Shaw.<\/p>\n<p><em>Killing Eve<\/em>, based on the <em>Codename Villanelle<\/em> novellas by Luke Jennings, revolves around MI6 operative Eve Polastri (Oh) and psychopath assassin Villanelle (Comer), who wind up bound by a mutual obsession in a city-hopping game of cat and mouse. The series is produced by Sid Gentle Films for BBC America and distributed by Endeavor Content. Its second season premiered Sunday (April 7) on BBC America and was simulcast on AMC.<\/p>\n<p>Sarah Barnett, president of entertainment networks for AMC Networks, said: \u201cWe love having this show and the brilliant Sandra Oh, Jodie Comer and Fiona Shaw on our networks. Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Emerald Fennell have delivered two addictively entertaining seasons. As we did last year, we\u2019re renewing\u00a0<em>Killing Eve<\/em>\u00a0right out of the gate, now with Suzanne Heathcote as lead writer, as a sign of confidence\u2014we adore this show as much as our fans do. <em>Killing Eve<\/em> doesn\u2019t do anything in a templated way; we love giving opportunity to three genius women to make their mark.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fennell said: \u201cIt\u2019s been such an exciting year for me on <em>Killing Eve<\/em>. I think it\u2019s cool that this tradition has been built into this untraditional show. Inheriting some of Phoebe\u2019s characters was a treat\u2014I can\u2019t wait to see what Suzanne does next.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Waller-Bridge added: \u201cI\u2019m very excited that the <em>Killing Eve<\/em> baton is being passed onto another incredible writer for season three. We can sleep soundly knowing these characters are safe in Suzanne Heathcote\u2019s hilariously murderous hands.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sally Woodward Gentle of Sid Gentle Films commented: \u201cWe are overjoyed at this show of love and passion for the show.
