British writer Chris Murray, recently behind the reboot of the U.K. detective series\u00a0Van Der Valk<\/em>, has come on board as co-creator for Cannes Confidential<\/em>, a new blue-sky procedural.<\/p>\n

The 10×45-minute series blends comedy, mystery and crime detection with a love story. Dramacorp has been granted exclusive access to film in the city of Cannes, allowing the producer to use the trademark-protected name “Cannes” in the show title.<\/p>\n

Cannes Confidential<\/em> marks the first English-language procedural drama to be produced and set on the C\u00f4te d\u2019Azur since the classic 1970s action-adventure comedy The Persuaders<\/em>, starring Roger Moore and Tony Curtis.<\/p>\n

Patrick Nebout, founder and executive producer of Dramacorp, said: \u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s too much to say that Cannes Confidential<\/em> has echoes of the iconic, great Moonlighting<\/em> in terms of its wit and charm, The Night Manager<\/em> in terms of its scale and ambition, and La La Land<\/em> in terms of its look and tone. As his credits prove, Chris Murray has a genius for creating deeply loved and witty characters and stories that run and run. And then there\u2019s that other star of the show\u2014Cannes\u2014which will bring its own magic to our story. We\u2019re looking forward to delivering something extremely special and distinctively upbeat, far from the tons of very dark shows that seem to have taken over the international market.\u201d<\/p>\n
