{"id":10817,"date":"2019-02-22T03:22:34","date_gmt":"2019-02-22T08:22:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev2.worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/starz-teams-reese-witherspoon-family-drama-kin\/"},"modified":"2019-02-22T09:57:21","modified_gmt":"2019-02-22T14:57:21","slug":"starz-teams-with-reese-witherspoon-for-family-drama-kin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/starz-teams-with-reese-witherspoon-for-family-drama-kin\/","title":{"rendered":"Starz Teams with Reese Witherspoon for Family Drama Kin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Starz has inked a development deal with Reese Witherspoon&#8217;s Hello Sunshine for the multigenerational family drama <em>Kin<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>From writer Davita Scarlett (<em>Queen Sugar<\/em>, <em>Constantine<\/em>) and Hello Sunshine, the series\u00a0follows three generations of women who are thrust together when their dynamic and controversial matriarch moves back to town.<\/p>\n<p>Witherspoon (<em>Big Little Lies<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Gone Girl<\/em>, <em>Wild<\/em>) and Lauren Neustadter (<em>Are You Sleeping<\/em>) will serve as executive producers for Hello Sunshine alongside Scarlett who developed the project with Chester Jones III (<em>Hey Diddle Diddle<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe opportunity to work in partnership with Davita Scarlett as well as Reese Witherspoon and Hello Sunshine on this series is serendipitous,\u201d said Carmi Zlotnik, president of programming for Starz. \u201cHello Sunshine puts women at the forefront of the stories they are telling, and that fits perfectly into Starz\u2019 overall programming strategy to offer compelling content that appeals to female audiences.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Witherspoon commented: \u201cDavita has written a script that is utterly original, complex and incredibly nuanced. She deftly explores issues around identity and the secrets family members keep to protect themselves and one another. I\u2019m so excited to team up with Starz to bring these strong, memorable female characters to life on screen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Starz retains all domestic multiplatform pay-TV and SVOD rights to the series.
