Martin, with S.J. Clarkson signed on to direct the pilot.<\/p>\n<p>Taking place thousands of years before the events of <em>Game of Thrones<\/em>, the series chronicles the world\u2019s descent from the golden age of heroes into its darkest hour. The logline promises &#8220;it\u2019s not the story we think we know,&#8221; teasing &#8220;horrifying secrets&#8221; of Westeros\u2019s history, the true origin of the white walkers, the mysteries of the East and the Starks of legend.<\/p>\n<p>Clarkson, who is on board to direct the upcoming<em> Star Trek<\/em> film, will direct the prequel pilot. She most recently directed and executive produced <em>Collateral<\/em>, a BBC\/Netflix four-part limited series.<\/p>\n<p>Previously announced series regulars Naomi Watts and Josh Whitehouse will be joined by the newly added cast of Naomi Ackie (<em>Lady Macbeth<\/em>), Denise Gough (<em>People, Places and Things<\/em>), Jamie Campbell Bower (<em>Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street<\/em>), Sheila Atim (<em>Harlots<\/em>), Ivanno Jeremiah (<em>Humans<\/em>), Georgie Henley (<em>Narnia<\/em> franchise), Alex Sharp (<em>How to Talk to Girls at Parties<\/em>) and Toby Regbo (<em>The Last Kingdom<\/em>).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New details have been revealed for the Game of Thrones prequel from Jane Goldman and George R.R.
