BBC One has ordered a Dracula<\/em> miniseries from Hartswood Films, which produced the hit BBC drama Sherlock<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Created and written by Sherlock<\/em>‘s Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, Dracula<\/em> is based on the classic novel penned by Bram Stoker. Set in Transylvania during the late 1800s, the 3×90-minute miniseries will reintroduce viewers to the titular vampire.\u00a0It will debut on BBC One in the U.K. and Netflix outside of the U.K., and in China where the service is not available.<\/p>\n

Dracula<\/em>\u00a0will be internationally distributed by BBC Studios.<\/p>\n

Moffat and Gatiss commented: \u201cThere have always been stories about great evil. What\u2019s special about Dracula<\/em> is that Bram Stoker gave evil its own hero.\u201d<\/p>\n

Charlotte Moore, BBC’s director of content, noted: \u201cGenius duo Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss turn their attentions to Dracula<\/em> for unmissable event television on BBC One.”<\/p>\n

Piers Wenger, controller of BBC Drama, said: \u201cSteven and Mark\u2019s ingenious vision for Dracula<\/em> is as clever as it is chilling. In their talented hands, the fans will experience the power of Bram Stoker\u2019s creation as if completely anew. We are thrilled to be collaborating with them and the brilliant team at Hartswood on yet another iconic British series.\u201d<\/p>\n

Larry Tanz, the VP of content acquisition for Netflix, remarked: \u201cWe can\u2019t wait to bring Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss\u2019s brilliant storytelling to our members around the world and we are eager to collaborate on yet another series with the BBC.\u201d<\/p>\n
