Miso Film is teaming up with TV 2 Denmark and TV4 and C More in Sweden to develop The Investigation<\/em>, a new Scandinavian crime series written and directed by Tobias Lindholm.<\/p>\n

The story follows Jens M\u00f8ller, the head of homicide for the Copenhagen Police, as he carries out an investigation surrounding the murder of Swedish journalist Kim Wall.\u00a0The series is being made in close cooperation with Lindholm (Mindhunter<\/i>)\u00a0<\/i>and M\u00f8ller, as well as Wall\u2019s parents, Ingrid and Joachim Wall.<\/p>\n

M\u00f8ller said: \u201cA murder case in which you are looking for a submarine, and where you have a perpetrator before you have a body, is by its very nature spectacular. It\u2019s also a case that quite naturally has consumed Kim Wall\u2019s family and friends, and therefore also a case that drew the public\u2019s attention to an unusually high degree.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ingrid and Joachim Wall stated: \u201cWe decided early on that Kim\u2019s fate should not be forgotten and we developed a close relationship with Jens M\u00f8ller over the course of the case. Our conversations with both Jens and Tobias have caused us to trust that the story of how Kim\u2019s murder was solved will be told from the right perspective and with respect for all who knew and loved Kim.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the making of a crime series like this that is built on real events and the life of real people, I cannot and will not act alone. The cooperation with Jens M\u00f8ller, and Ingrid and Joachim Wall are therefore imperative,\u201d said Lindholm. \u201cI don\u2019t want to make a crime series that is beguiled by the perpetrator or the crime. I am, however, interested in the processes and the people who solved the crime, as well as the people who must go on with their lives despite it. It\u2019s therefore a fully conscious decision that the perpetrator at no time will figure in the series.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lindholm added: \u201cJens M\u00f8ller and Copenhagen\u2019s Police, investigated the case methodically, tirelessly and loyally, until only the unbearable facts remained. I have worked closely with professional soldiers and hostage negotiators in my films A War<\/em> and A Hijacking<\/em> and have described their lives authentically and realistically. I wish, in the same manner, to make a crime series that cuts out all the colourful stuff and depicts the reality and the facts soberly and precisely.\u201d<\/p>\n

Katrine Vogelsang, head of fiction at TV 2 Danmark, commented: \u201cIt’s a story about a unique and thrilling police investigation and a policeman who has to use alternative methods to solve the case. There is no doubt that Tobias Lindholm is the right person to bring this story to the audience in respect of the victim and her family.\u201d<\/p>\n

Josefine Tengblad, head of drama at TV 4, added: \u201cWe do this with great humility. Having such a talented director like Tobias, who does this in close dialogue with both Jens M\u00f8ller and Kim Walls parents to get the true story of what happened, feels safe and is a guarantee that the work in this project is done with the biggest respect for those who knew and loved Kim.\u201d<\/p>\n

Producer Jonas Allen of Miso Film remarked: \u201cI am convinced that Tobias Lindholm with his authentic style and approach, will turn The Investigation<\/em> into a unique Scandinavian TV series, and I really see it as a scoop for Scandinavian TV fiction that Tobias is both writing and directing The Investigation<\/em> in a time where a lot of major Danish directors turn to the U.S.A.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
