STOCKHOLM: Farang, a new thriller series starring Ola Rapace (Skyfall, Wallander), is slated for broadcast on C More in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland.

Farang tells the story of Rickard, who is forced to leave his family and country behind to start a new life in Thailand after a bank robbery. Starring alongside Rapace are Louise Nyvall (Pojkarna) and Yayaying Rhatha Phongam (Only God Forgives). The show, which recently began filming, is due to debut on C More next year.

“The father/daughter relationship really caught my eye as I’ve never seen it described quite this way before,” said Rapace. “For better or worse, I can relate to it on a personal level.”

“Announcing new local content is always a pleasure, since our strong Swedish offer makes us unique in the market,” noted Bo Thörnwall, the director of programs at C More.

“Farang will be a gut-wrenching thriller—a drama about the emotional, fragile connection between a father and the daughter he has abandoned,” added Josefine Tengblad, the head of drama at TV4 and C More. “It’s also an action-packed series.”

Farang is produced by Warner Bros.’s Eyeworks Scandi Fiction in association with Matador Film and co-produced by C More and TV4. The original series was created by Malin Lagerlöf and Stefan Thunberg.
