Nearly 60 Qu\u00e9bec-based television industry professionals will participate at the Series Mania Forum under the SODEC (Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 de d\u00e9veloppement des entreprises culturelles) “Qu\u00e9bec Creates” banner.<\/p>\n
This represents Qu\u00e9bec\u2019s highest attendance at the forum since SODEC made its appearance. Local series will compete officially at Series Mania at the Coming Next from Qu\u00e9bec event, in the Forum Exclusives section and in the video library. In addition, producer Sophie Deraspe will sit on the International Panorama jury.<\/p>\n
Two local series will compete officially at the Series Mania Festival, including Welcome to Soulshine<\/em>, written by Sandrine Viger-Beaulieu and Charles-Alex Durand, directed by M\u00e9lanie Charbonneau and produced by \u00c9cho M\u00e9dia. It will have its world premiere in the Short Forms Competition category. Last Summers of the Raspberries<\/em> (Le temps des framboises<\/em>), written by Suzie Bouchard and Florence Longpr\u00e9, directed by Philippe Falardeau and produced by Trio Orange, will have its premiere in France and will compete in the International Panorama category.<\/p>\n SODEC is once again partnering with CBC & Radio-Canada Distribution and Qu\u00e9becor Contenu, and will pair up with Bell Media for the first time, to present Coming Next from Qu\u00e9bec. This event, attended by international broadcasters and buyers, allows each broadcaster to present and pitch two series that are ready to be shown internationally.<\/p>\n Presentations by Bell Media include A Criminal Affair<\/em> (Une affaire criminelle<\/em>) from Productions Sovimage and No Return<\/em> (Aller simple<\/em>) from Sphere Media. Qu\u00e9becor Contenu will present Dark Lake<\/em> (Lac-Noir<\/em>) from Pixcom and Motel Paradis from Zone3, and CBC & Radio-Canada Distribution will present Larry<\/em> from Avenue Productions and Dear Flora<\/em> (Pour toi Flora<\/em>) from Nish Media.<\/p>\n Further, Series Mania has selected Sans rendez-vous<\/em> (Aetios Productions inc.) and L\u2019homme qui aimait trop<\/em> (Duo Productions) for the Forum Exclusives section. Four additional local series will be accessible in the festival\u2019s video library: Le monde de Gabrielle Roy<\/em> (Zone 3 and Les Productions Rivard), Lou et Sophie<\/em> (Passez Go), Pi\u00e9g\u00e9s<\/em> (Duo Productions) and VIRAGE<\/em> (KOTV).<\/p>\n In collaboration with the Qu\u00e9bec government office in Paris (D\u00e9l\u00e9gation g\u00e9n\u00e9rale du Qu\u00e9bec \u00e0 Paris), SODEC will take advantage of Series Mania to put together SODEC_Lab to support Qu\u00e9bec-based producers in developing their business network in Europe, especially in France. Selected producers will receive coaching that will conclude with a Series Mania Forum, where business meetings will take place.
