Jean Mongeau, who has spent more than 25 years with CBC\/Radio-Canada, is leaving his post as general manager and chief revenue officer to pursue new opportunities.<\/p>\n
Mongeau had started out with CBC\/Radio-Canada from 1980 to 1995 as a member of the sales and marketing team. He returned to the public broadcaster in 2009 as general manager of sales and marketing, becoming the general manager of the revenue group in 2011. Three years later, he was appointed general manager and chief revenue officer. In this most recent role, he spearheaded the merger of CBC\/Radio-Canada\u2019s advertising sales and distribution operations with an eye to creating the CBC & Radio-Canada Media Solutions Group. The effective date of his departure is February 24, 2020.<\/p>\n
Barbara Williams, executive VP of CBC, said: \u201cHe has a long list of achievements in our industry and played a lead role in driving its transformation on the local, national (thinktv and Numeris) and international levels through his involvement in the European Group of Television Advertising (EGTA) and the Global TV Group. We congratulate him for those initiatives.\u201d<\/p>\n
Michel Bissonnette, executive VP of Radio-Canada, added: \u201cOn behalf of everyone, I sincerely thank him for the great work he\u2019s done over all these years and for his tireless commitment. You\u2019ll also be glad to know that someone as talented as Jean will continue to be active in the industry as a coach.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mongeau commented about the industry: \u201cI hope to see it accelerate the paradigm shift that will take us from utility to creativity, as we join forces to take on the digital giants.
