The Cartel is launching Cartel Pictures Canada to bolster its independent and TV production business in Winnipeg.<\/p>\n
Under the helm of partners Stan Spry and Eric Woods, as well as Cartel\u2019s VP of production, Anthony Fankhauser, the new venture will focus on\u00a0production, financing and development of TV movies, independent films and TV series. The Winnipeg office will open September 1.<\/p>\n
In the last year, the Cartel has produced four TV movies for Hallmark in Winnipeg, including Christmas Connection<\/em>, One Winter Weekend<\/em>, Love in Design<\/em> and Under the Autumn Moon<\/em>. The Cartel will be producing two more Hallmark movies via the new Canadian office this year and will also be producing three independent films before the end of the year.<\/p>\n \u201cWe shoot all around the world, from the United States to Mexico, from Fiji to Canada,\u201d said Eric Woods, the company\u2019s co-CEO. \u201cWinnipeg has been very good to us as a robust production hub. We are excited to ramp up our Canadian production slate, which will help supplement our U.S. and worldwide production business.
