The Canada Media Fund (CMF) and Film Fund Luxembourg (FFL) have inked a two-year deal to establish a C$1.8 million ($1.4 million) incentive for the co-development and co-production of audiovisual projects between Canadian and Luxembourger producers.<\/p>\n
The combined total annual budget for the incentive will be C$900,000 ($710,000) with each party contributing half, representing a C$1.8 million investment over two years. The news coincides with CMF\u2019s participation in the Luxembourg City Film Festival.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor over 20 years, we\u2019ve seen content produced between Canadian and Luxembourger creators hit international markets with great commercial success and critical acclaim,\u201d said Valerie Creighton, the president and CEO of CMF. \u201cA recent example of this is\u00a0The Breadwinner<\/em>, an Oscar-nominated, mesmerizing and deeply touching animated feature film that tells the story of a girl in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan. This new agreement will help to diversify these partnerships, especially in terms of new content such as virtual or augmented reality.
