{"id":2230,"date":"2017-02-22T13:05:05","date_gmt":"2017-02-22T18:05:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvcanada\/super-channel-scores-legends-football-league\/"},"modified":"2017-02-22T13:22:40","modified_gmt":"2017-02-22T18:22:40","slug":"super-channel-scores-lfl-for-new-sports-sub-brand","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvcanada\/super-channel-scores-lfl-for-new-sports-sub-brand\/","title":{"rendered":"Super Channel Lands LFL for New Sports Sub-Brand"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>EDMONTON: Super Channel has snapped up the U.S. sports franchise Legends Football League (LFL) and its weekly TV hit <em>LFL Football Night<\/em> for\u00a0the new programming sub-brand Super Channel SPORTS.<\/p>\n<p>LFL will premiere on Super Channel in Canada on April 22 at 9 p.m. It will serve as the flagship franchise for Super Channel SPORTS, which will present a collection of exclusive sporting events and sports-themed programming on the linear network as well as on demand. The exclusive three-year agreement will make Super Channel SPORTS the home of <em>LFL Football Night<\/em> through the 2019 season.<\/p>\n<p>Besides\u00a0full-length games in HD, Super Channel SPORTS will air\u00a0and make available online various complementary LFL programming, including player and team features as well as behind-the-scenes\u00a0short-form content.\u00a0In addition to the LFL, Super Channel SPORTS will include a\u00a0variety\u00a0of other sports-related content in the form of live sports events, sports docs, sports docuseries, specialty shows and biographical movies. Super Channel SPORTS will broadcast\u00a0up to 20 hours of live sports programming per week.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are excited to bring the LFL to Canadian viewers and announce the launch of Super Channel SPORTS,&#8221; said Don McDonald, the COO of Super Channel. &#8220;The LFL is a proven sports franchise that is building in popularity around the world. We are sure that sports fans across the country will embrace this fast-paced, high-impact sport that showcases the incredible athleticism, superior skill and tenacity of these female athletes.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mitchell S. Mortaza, the managing partner of Legends Football League, added: &#8220;Canada has always been a major priority in building the LFL into a global sport.
