TORONTO\/LOS ANGELES: Entertainment One (eOne) Television has named Margaret O’Brien, currently the COO, to the newly created role of president of eOne Television in Canada. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

O’Brien will be responsible for all tasks within the TV group in Canada. She will work to build and broaden relationships with Canadian producers and broadcasters, with a special focus on developing eOne’s factual division. O’Brien joined eOne in September 2008, when the company acquired Barna-Alper Productions, where she had been serving as CFO and COO. She takes up the post of president of eOne Television in Canada with immediate effect. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“I believe this is a great opportunity in a very exciting time for the Canadian television business. eOne has enjoyed remarkable growth in the last four years, and my goal is to increase that success with the exciting resources available in Canada,” said O’Brien. “Our success with Rookie Blue<\/em>, Call Me Fitz<\/em> and Haven<\/em> are examples of the creativity and quality of the producers and writers working in this country.”<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“eOne’s phenomenal success story is in large part due to Margaret’s skills and dedication. It wouldn’t have happened without her leadership, deep knowledge of the Canadian television business and industry savoir-faire,” added John Morayniss, the CEO of eOne Television.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

O’Brien will report directly to Morayniss and continue to be based in Toronto.
