MGM Television and China Star Omnimedia have entered into a new partnership to co-produce and co-develop local-language alternative programing for the Chinese market.<\/p>\n
Per the deal, China Star Omnimedia will distribute formats in China with MGM overseeing distribution for the rest of the world. The new venture combines MGM\u2019s storytelling and distribution expertise with China Star Omnimedia\u2019s entire entertainment ecosystem, which includes businesses spanning television and digital production, networks, filmmaking, artist management and concert production.<\/p>\n
China Star Omnimedia and its affiliates\u2019 series include local versions of The Voice<\/em>, King of Masked Singer<\/em>, So You Think You Can Dance<\/em> and Dancing with the Stars<\/em>. The company has also produced original reality formats of its own such as Sing My Song<\/em> and Street Dance of China<\/em>. MGM Television\u2019s alternative programming slate includes The Voice<\/em> (NBC), Survivor<\/em> (CBS), Shark Tank<\/em> (ABC), Beat Shazam<\/em> (Fox), Real Housewives of Orange County<\/em> and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills<\/em> (Bravo), Live PD<\/em> (A&E), Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?<\/em> (Nickelodeon) and the syndicated programs Lauren Lake\u2019s Paternity Court<\/em>, Couples Court with the Cutlers<\/em> and Personal Injury Court<\/em>.<\/p>\n Mark Burnett, chairman of MGM\u2019s Worldwide Television Group, said: \u201cThe influence that China Star Omnimedia has on pop culture is second to none and underscores the immense opportunity that lies ahead with this exciting new partnership.
