{"id":4890,"date":"2018-05-08T12:13:07","date_gmt":"2018-05-08T16:13:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvasia\/lionsgate-india-azure-globalgate-tie-movie-remakes\/"},"modified":"2018-05-08T12:30:47","modified_gmt":"2018-05-08T16:30:47","slug":"lionsgate-india-azure-globalgate-tie-up-for-movie-remakes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvasia\/lionsgate-india-azure-globalgate-tie-up-for-movie-remakes\/","title":{"rendered":"Lionsgate India, Azure, Globalgate Tie Up for Movie Remakes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Azure Entertainment, Lionsgate India and Globalgate have entered into a partnership that will kick off with the joint development and production of two theatrical remakes, including one for the blockbuster 2013 Mexican comedy-drama <em>Instructions Not Included<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The two films kick off a multi-picture deal to jointly develop and produce key titles from Lionsgate and Globalgate for the local Indian film market.<\/p>\n<p>The first film in the collaboration is <em>Instructions Not Included<\/em>, originally produced and distributed by Lionsgate\u2019s Pantelion Films. The highest-grossing Spanish-language film ever released in the U.S. and the most successful Spanish-language film ever, <em>Instructions Not Included<\/em> grossed nearly $100 million at the worldwide box office. The companies will also collaborate to remake the 2013 action thriller<em> The Terror Live<\/em>, which grossed $36 million in South Korea.<\/p>\n<p>Globalgate is a joint consortium comprised of global content leader Lionsgate and ten other content companies around the world.<\/p>\n<p>Rohit Jain, managing director of Lionsgate India, said, \u201cWe\u2019re pleased to partner with the world-class creative team at Azure on our first major local-language film production initiative in India. They are passionate about film and storytelling and ideally placed to adapt and develop foreign language source material into Indian language remakes. <em>Instructions Not Included<\/em> and <em>The Terror Live<\/em> are two great story-driven properties from the Globalgate library that have already demonstrated their appeal worldwide. This collaboration demonstrates our ability to bring great IP and a broad array of resources across multiple platforms to our partners.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sunir Kheterpal, CEO of Azure Entertainment, commented, \u201cIt is a momentous occasion for a young company like ours to collaborate with Lionsgate and Globalgate to jointly develop and produce the local language adaptations of these two globally recognized titles.
