TOKYO:\u00a0Ryoichi Ueda has succeeded Katsuto Momii as the president of Japanese public broadcaster NHK.<\/p>\n
Ueda takes over following the completion of Momii’s three-year term. A former Mitsubishi executive, he has been serving\u00a0as a member of the NHK Audit Committee and Board of Governors.<\/p>\n
“As president, I will devote constant attention to the fair and efficient management of public broadcasting; am firmly resolved to protect autonomy and independence and furnish public broadcasts which all of our viewers and listeners will trust,” Ueda said.<\/p>\n
He added,\u00a0\u201cFurther, in this globalized world, the public broadcaster also has the great mission of displaying Japan\u2019s presence in the world.
