The Queen of the South Debuts in Israel

MIAMI: Telemundo International’s telenovela The Queen of the South (La Reina del Sur) debuted yesterday in Israel on Viva Platina following success in the U.S., Latin America and Europe.

The Queen of the South is currently being broadcast in Ecuador, Hungary, Panama and El Salvador. It has seen success in Mexico, Costa Rica, Uruguay, Spain and the U.S.

It is based on the book by Arturo Perez-Reverte, which has been published in more than 50 countries in 30 languages. It ranked number one in best-selling Spanish-language fiction books in the U.S.

The novela tells the story of Maria Teresa Mendoza, a young Mexican woman who becomes the queen of a powerful drug-trafficking empire.
