The History Channel UK Rebrands

LONDON: Effective immediately, The History Channel UK, a joint venture of A&E Television Networks (AETN) and British Sky Broadcasting (BSkyB), is changing its name to AETN UK.

The History Channel UK launched in November 1995 as the first international service for the brand. Since January 2009, the joint venture has launched languaged services for HISTORY and HISTORY HD in Romania, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

“I am very pleased to announce our name change to AETN UK,” said Tom Davidson, the managing director of AETN UK. “We have grown from a single linear channel on Sky, to an international operation comprising multiple channel brands, distribution across linear and digital platforms, websites and more. We look forward to further growth within the U.K. and throughout the European territories we service.”

“The new corporate branding reflects the expansion of business operations for AETN with our partners at BSkyB,” added Sean Cohan, the senior VP of international for AETN. “This is a true milestone for our international business, and we look forward to working with Tom and his team to further extend the footprint of HISTORY, BIO, CI and Military History brands throughout Northern Europe, Central Europe, Africa, Greece and the Middle East.”
