Discovery Signs Output Deal with Astral

CANNES: Discovery Communications has entered into an output deal with Les Chanes Tl Astral, which took on the rights to air 180 hours of programming from across the company’s portfolio of networks throughout the next two years.

The deal covers programming from Discovery’s stable of networks, including the flagship Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, ID: Investigation Discovery, TLC, Planet Green and Science Channel. Titles include Ghost Lab, After the Attack and Monsters Inside Me. These can now be seen on Canal Vie, Canal D, Ztl, VRAK.TV, Historia and Musique Plus.

Elliot Wagner, the director of Discovery Enterprises International, commented, “Astral’s specialty channels are a natural fit for Discovery’s high-quality content that spans a variety of programming genres. This deal represents our continued commitment to strengthening ongoing relationships with Canadian broadcasters in order to extend Discovery’s extensive programming library and breadth of nonfiction entertainment to even wider international audiences.”
