Channel 6 Takes BBC Comedies

CANNES, April 16: The Irish entertainment network
Channel 6 has acquired a raft of comedy titles from BBC Worldwide, includingI’m Alan
Partridge
and The Royle Family.

The
deal also brings to the channel properties such as Big Train, Knowing Me,
Knowing You…with Alan Partridge
and That Mitchell and Webb Look.

Michael
Murphy, the founder and director of international programs at the channel,
noted: “This is our first deal with BBC Worldwide since our channel launched
this time last year and I anticipate that will have a long and mutually
beneficial relationship.”

Under
the terms of the agreement, Channel 6 will gain broadcast rights in Ireland to
both season one and season two of Big Train and I’m Alan Partridge, all six episodes of Knowing
Me, Knowing You…with Alan Partridge
, 22 episodes of The Royle
Family

and all six episodes of That Mitchell and Webb Look. The channel will add the series to
their fall programming line-up beginning this September.
