A firm fixture in the kids’ market with international hits like Life with Derek, Canada’s Shaftesbury Films has been rapidly raising its profile as a producer of prime-time series for the global market. Its recent productions include Murdoch Mysteries—renewed for a third season by CityTV in Canada and UKTV—and The Listener. The company is also producing Bloodletting & Miraculous Cures, a medical drama based on Vincent Lam’s novel of the same name, and has been given the go-ahead for the half-hour show Good Dog, written by and starring producer and creator Ken Finkleman, for Astral Media’s The Movie Network and Corus Entertainment’s Movie Channel.
