TORONTO/LOS ANGELES: David Brown, former head of YouTube Canada, has been appointed as the CEO of Omnia Media, which was acquired by Blue Ant Media earlier this year.

In his new role, Brown is responsible for Omnia’s evolution in original content and multiplatform publishing. He most recently served as head of corporate development at Victorious. “David’s expertise working at the helm of game-changing digital platforms is invaluable as we expand Omnia Media’s focus to original content creation, serving its gaming and DIY lifestyle communities,” said Raja Khanna, Blue Ant’s CEO of television and digital.

Omnia has also named Dan Lubetkin chief content officer. Lubetkin, a seasoned content creator known for his work on Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, previously was senior VP of production and development at Avalon Television. He is charged with building a world-class development slate for Omnia’s digital originals, including a number of shows already in production or development. Lubetkin will also help increase the company’s IP ownership.

In addition, Greg Kampanis was hired as senior VP of operations, while Mike Waghalter becomes senior VP of business development. Kampanis joins Omnia from izo (formerly DanceOn), where he served as senior VP of studio. Kampanis will oversee the development and management of Omnia’s owned and operated properties, including Arcade Cloud and Makeful. Waghalter most recently was head of business development at BuzzFeed Motion Pictures. He has more than a decade of experience leading multiplatform content monetization and strategy for such media companies as Fox and Discovery.

Rose Ferraro will continue to serve as senior VP of brand sales. Austin Long remains VP of gaming partnerships and strategy.

Brown commented: “Omnia’s business has shown significant traction in cultivating talent and delivering engaged audiences. I’m excited to build on this momentum by expanding our programming with our growing suite of owned brands and extended portfolio of original content for gaming and DIY communities. The foundation of Omnia’s talent network provides the perfect foundation and with our new executive team in place, we’re ready to fuel that growth.”
