UNIVERSAL CITY: Universal Cable Productions (UCP) has unveiled details for its first annual Pitch Fest, a one-day open forum for aspiring TV writers.

UCP’s Pitch Fest, which kicks off on April 28, is open to individuals who have ideas for a scripted television show but lack access to development execs. In order to be eligible, applicants must complete a submission release form and know a UCP employee or have a direct connection to someone who does business with the studio. Chosen entries will be contacted for a ten-minute pitch meeting with Dawn Olmstead, UCP’s executive VP of development, and her team, whose credits include USA Network’s Mr. Robot, Syfy’s The Magicians, Bravo’s Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce and Hulu’s Difficult People.

“We’re taking a fresh approach as we mine for new talent and incubate ideas,” said Olmstead. “It’s a great opportunity to engage with novice storytellers and give them an entry point to bring their projects to life.”
