TV Land Pacts with Darren Star, Plans First Wives Club Series

NEW YORK: TV Land has inked an overall deal with Darren Star, the creator, executive producer and writer of Younger, in addition to announcing an adaptation of the cult comedy hit The First Wives Club.

The network has given a pilot order for a series adaptation of The First Wives Club, to be written by Rebecca Addelman (New Girl) and executive produced by Jenny Bicks (Sex and the City). TV Land also unveiled an untitled put pilot based on the life of Kyle Richards (The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills) with executive producers John Wells (Shameless, ER, The West Wing) and John Riggi (The Comeback, 30 Rock, Will & Grace). Additionally, TV Land has renewed Teachers for a 20-episode second season.

“Looking ahead, we’re developing shows that are funny but also embrace real dramatic moments,” said Keith Cox, TV Land’s executive VP for development and original programming. “We’re fortunate to be working with such amazing collaborators as we continue to reinvent the network.”
