With its April 29 episode, The Simpsons will beat Gunsmoke as the longest-running prime-time scripted show in U.S. TV history.

The all-new “Forgive and Regret” episode marks number 636 for the hit comedy. The record-setting episode will air Sunday, April 29, at 8 p.m. on FOX.

Previous record holder Gunsmoke ran for 635 episodes. It began as a radio program in 1952, came to TV in 1955 and ended its 20-year run in 1975.
