Showtime Networks has elevated Stephen Espinoza to president of sports and event programming.

In his new role, Espinoza will continue to develop and execute the overall strategy of the group, working out of New York under David Nevins, the president and CEO of Showtime Networks.

As head of Showtime Sports, Espinoza oversees the day-to-day activities of the sports and event group, including its pay-per-view unit. He manages the production of the channel’s original sports series and docs, as well as the acquisition and licensing of all other Showtime and pay-per-view sports and event programming.

Before being hired by Showtime in 2011, Espinoza was a partner in the firm of Ziffren Brittenham.

“Simply stated, Stephen is the heavyweight champion of his profession,” stated Nevins. “He is an innovator—equal parts thoughtful and tenacious—who has turned Showtime boxing into the market-leader, while also driving excellence in our documentaries and sports series.”
