LOS ANGELES: Shine America has linked up with EMJAG Digital Productions and New Regency to create and distribute digital content.

New Regency will co-produce and co-finance select digital products, along with Shine America, through a new first-look deal. Shine America and New Regency will provide production financing opportunities in the digital space, using their respective global distribution networks to maximize the reach and scale of the new projects.

Development and production under the pact will be led by Alexandra Milchan, the executive VP of New Regency and CEO of EMJAG Digital, along with Jamie Boscardin Martin, the president of EMJAG. Milchan and Martin will transition their digital content partnership to Shine America, following a previous JV that ended in 2011. Milchan and Martin will work to tailor the distribution model for each project on an individual basis, bringing the concepts to platforms including webisodes and VOD, with the possibility of domestic and international TV and theatrical release.

“This partnership seeks to leverage the changing nature of how content is created and produced, by fashioning innovative financing and distribution models tailored to help each project realize its full potential,” said David Anderson, the senior VP and head of digital at Shine America. “Shine Group is always seeking to partner with great content creators, whether in scripted or unscripted television, the digital space and now supporting projects that might otherwise compete in the feature film world.”

“So often there are projects that are creatively excellent, but are unable to find a path to a traditional launch,” added Milchan. “We believe this partnership will allow us to identify the best established screenwriters, producers, directors and actors and to give a digital life to projects that currently do not have a home.”
