MONTEREY: SNL Kagan reports that the U.S. cable, DTH and telco sectors lost a whopping 430,000 customers in the third quarter, bringing the year-to-date drop to 1.3 million.

Cable operators shed 94,000 total video customers, the best Q3 performance for the sector since 2006. For the nine months through September 30, cable cut its 2015 decline in half.

DTH, meanwhile, gained 46,000 subs and is on track for a positive year-end result.

The wind-down of AT&T U-verse is impacting telco sub numbers, which fell 382,000 in the period. Year-to-date, telco video subs are down nearly 1.2 million.
