LOS ANGELES: Former Electus International executive Cyrus Farrokh has been enlisted to lead the new international division at Propagate, the studio helmed by Ben Silverman and Howard T. Owens.

Founded in 2015, Propagate has a number of projects in production and development, and has licensed two international formats to U.S. broadcasters: Exhibit A, based on a South Korean series, and the Turkish format My Partner Knows Best to Lifetime. Propagate is bringing the format and finished version of the Kanal D game show to NATPE, alongside several other unscripted projects.

“As a creative-led independent in the global format business finding extraordinarily fast success in U.S. content partnerships, we are so proud to begin replicating our market-leading production platform globally,” said Silverman, chairman and co-CEO, and Owens, co-CEO, in a joint statement. “We are thrilled to have our long-term partner Cyrus join in the next phase of Propagate’s growth strategy. Cyrus has an incredible track record of fostering long-term partnerships and opening doors into new markets, particularly in China and the Asia-Pacific region, and we are excited to redefine the global content business together.”

Farrokh was most recently senior VP and head of sales at Electus International. He previously worked at Shine International and Media Rights Capital. At Propagate his team includes Jay Weisleder for Latin America and Spanish-speaking territories and Jimmy McNider for European territories. Linh Le continues to focus on global business development.

“I am ecstatic to be working with Ben and Howard again, and with the fantastic team at Propagate,” said Farrokh. “We are in the midst of a transformative period in the television and media industry, and Ben and Howard’s unique global vision and approach to business has positioned us well for the future. I am excited to start seeing our partners at NATPE and forging a new way forward together.”
