Neil Smit Upped to CEO at Comcast Cable

PHILADELPHIA: Comcast Corporation has named Neil Smit as the CEO of Comcast Cable Communications, reporting directly to Brian Roberts.

Smit, who joined Comcast in March 2010, also serves as the president of Comcast Cable and is responsible for all aspects of the company’s cable business. He reports to Roberts, the chairman and CEO of Comcast Corporation. Prior to joining Comcast, Smit was the CEO and director of Charter Communications from 2005-10, and was the president of Time Warner’s America Online Access Business, overseeing America Online (AOL), CompuServe and Netscape ISPs. He also served at AOL as the executive VP of member services and COO of MapQuest.
