NEW YORK: Michael Klein has stepped down as the executive VP of original content at MTV, after just six months in the role.

Klein was appointed to the role in March by then-new MTV president Sean Atkins. Atkins left the company in October, replaced by Chris McCarthy, who had been serving as president of VH1 and Logo.

Klein had come to MTV from Condé Nast Entertainment, where he served as executive VP of programming and content strategy for digital channels.
