Lionsgate Gives Film Day-and-Date Release on Facebook

SANTA MONICA: Lionsgate has made the film Abduction available to rent on Facebook, marking the first-ever release through the social network that is day-and-date with the DVD launch.

The film, which stars Taylor Lautner, is available to rent through Facebook for $3.99 for 48 hours. The Facebook release also includes an exclusive interview with Lautner and a quiz that can be completed while watching the film. During key scenes, pop-up boxes will appear on the screen with a quote from the scene or a 20-second clip of it and gives users an option to write a note and post it on Facebook. If a friend watches the film later, they will also see the comment at the bottom of the screen during the same part of the film. The release through Facebook is alongside its availability on DVD, Blu-ray and digital download.
