LOS ANGELES: Cut, which creates native digital video content, has entered into a partnership with Gunpowder & Sky (G&S), a joint venture between Otter Media, Van Toffler and Floris Bauer.

G&S led the latest financing round for Cut, and Comcast Ventures, the venture capital affiliate of Comcast NBCUniversal, also participated in the financing. Cut will use the investment to expand its operations and increase its content production.

In addition, Cut and G&S announced a global distribution agreement, and are exploring several co-productions together.

“We are really excited to work with Gunpowder & Sky,” said Mike Gaston, CEO of Cut. “It’s rare to walk into an investment meeting and spend the entire time talking about storytelling. Van and Floris have an incredible depth of experience and a prescient sense for what’s coming next. They’re putting together an awesome team of makers and we look forward to earning our spot on their roster.”

“We are extremely impressed by Cut’s ability to produce highly shareable and thought-provoking short form content,” added Floris Bauer, co-founder and president of G&S. “With hundreds of millions of views across their multiple hit series such as 100 Years of Beauty, One Word and Grandmas Smoking Weed, Cut’s tapping into the zeitgeist, and we are very excited to be partnering with them.”
