Jennifer Danielson, who previously led Broadway Video’s Above Average digital comedy studio, has been named senior VP of digital at Comedy Central.

In her new role, Danielson will be responsible for the creative and editorial voice for all digital content creation, including original short-form series and social video. She will also be charged with aligning the brand’s digital strategy with Viacom’s overall initiatives. She will work out of New York City under Josh Line, executive VP of marketing and creative at Comedy Central.

Prior to this appointment, Danielson served as president of Broadway Video’s Above Average digital comedy studio, which she helped set up in 2012. She first began working for Lorne Michaels at Broadway Video back in 2001.

Kent Alterman, the president of Comedy Central, commented: “I’m tempted to speak about Jen with superlative cliches, because in this case, they are totally true.”

Line noted: “We are thrilled to have Jen join Comedy Central. She brings industry-leading experience in the digital space and possesses a creative vision that has led to longstanding success producing award-winning comedy across linear and digital platforms with Broadway Video and Above Average. Her passion for comedy matches ours and she shares the same appreciation for the sharp comedic voices, innovation and experimentation that have so successfully built the Comedy Central brand.”

Danielson added: “I’m so excited to join such an amazing team at Comedy Central and I am looking forward to the opportunity my new role provides to continue creating great comedy content.”
