Woodcut Media has named Matthew Gordon, formerly of Avalon Factual Television, to the newly created position of executive producer of popular factual, effective immediately.

Gordon reports to Kate Beal, CEO of Woodcut Media. He will work closely with Derren Lawford, the company’s creative director.

Prior to joining Woodcut, Gordon spent three years at Avalon Factual Television as head of features and daytime. Before that, he spent an additional six years working as an executive producer across Avalon’s production companies Flame Television and Liberty Bell on a range of series such as Heir Hunters (BBC One, BBC Two), The Nightmare Neighbour Next Door (Channel 5) and A Town & Country Murder (CI). Over the course of his 20-plus-year career, Gordon has worked across factual, features and documentary programming.

“Matthew is a highly respected and talented creative with an impressive list of credits,” said Beal. “He has established long-running relationships with commissioners and built an array of skills that we are confident will contribute substantially to the Woodcut team.”

“As well as popular factual, there seems to be an ever-increasing global demand for crime programming,” Gordon added. “I very much look forward to working with Kate and Woodcut, and creating factual shows that will captivate viewers both in the U.K. and abroad.”
