TORONTO: Proper Rights has closed deals for its factual content, including the car series Vegas Rat Rods and several Mike Holmes home-reno titles, across Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

In Australia, Foxtel licensed the home-renovation series Holmes + Holmes, while also renewing its entire Mike Holmes library, which includes four series. Additionally, Discovery Networks Asia purchased the licensing rights to Holmes + Holmes for New Zealand.

In Europe, Discovery Benelux picked up the second season of Vegas Rat Rods. Germany’s ProSiebenSat.1 picked up the docudrama Hardcore Heroes, while Fox Networks Group licensed seasons one and two of Don’t Drive Here for Finland and season two for Spain.

Canada’s RDI picked up the documentary For the Love of Their Brother for French Canada, while CBC News Network acquired the licensing rights to the event documentary thriller Justice for MLK: The Hunt for James Earl Ray. CHCH, meanwhile, picked up Killer Comebacks.

“International demand for unscripted programming continues to be strong, and we are serving the need with our catalog of lifestyle, character-led factual and documentaries,” said Natalie Vinet, the VP of Proper Rights. “We expect the momentum to grow as we launch several new series this fall, including personalities such as Mike Holmes, Andrew Younghusband and the Vegas Rat Rods crew, as well as some incredibly exciting globally known talent that is new to Proper Rights.”
